Nikolai Tokarev fills in for Fazil Say

On short notice, Nikolai Tokarev will play three important festivals with the Gstaad Festival Orchestra and Maxim Vengerov, to fill in for Fazil Say. On August 13th he plays the Menuhin Festival Gstaad, on the 15th the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Stolpe and on the 17th at the Rheingau Musik Festival in Wiesbaden. He will play Tchaikovsky`s piano concerto no. 1. His new CD, coming out on September 17th, will feature this concert and Rachmaninov`s no. 3, both recorded with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia and Vladimir Spivakov.

Nikolai Tokarev: German ECHO award for debut

Nikolai Tokarev has received the German ECHO Classical 2008 award for his debut album "No.1" as best newcomer (piano).
